英文摘要 | The purpose of this study was twofold: (1) to describe expressed value orientations of junior high school students in R.O. C.; (2) to investigate whether or not there were significant differences in value orientations between aggregates of students with various variables. The subjects in this study were 705 ninth graders, sampled from junior high schools in Taiwan. The instrument used to gather data for the study was THE STUDENT QUESTIONNAIRE OF VALUE ORIENTATION which was based on the value orientations theory proposed by Florence Kluckhohn. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The value orientions of junior high school students were Doing, Individualism, Mastery-over-Nature, and Future. 2. There were no significant difference between the value orientation patterns of rural and urban students. 3. There were no significant difference in the value orientation patterns among the students of different socioeconomic levels. 4. There were significant differences between the value orientation patterns of the female and male students except in the area of activity orientation and man-nature orientation. 5. There were significant differences between the value orientation patterns of high achieved and low achieved students. The following are some suggestions with reference to education and guidance: (1) to provide objective value judgment for students; (2) to promote the communication of values among the members of the school; and (3) to strengthen the investigation of students' values. |
