| 中文摘要 | 臺灣在20世紀末,政治民主化已經達到人民可以參與從社區層級到全國性的總統選舉的程度,然而許多社區的公共事務的決定,民眾仍然只是被告知,在過程中缺少參與討論的機會。本研究介紹長榮大學永續發展國際學士學位學程利用「社區規劃」課程,在經歷數週的教學與準備之後,由學生提出社區空間美化與利用的構想,以二天的工作坊邀請社區居民參與討論與模型製作。工作坊的結果,學生原來選定的基地因為社區居民的意見有些改變了地點。地點的利用方式也因為與居民的介紹對社區發展計畫有更多瞭解而做了調整。最後完成了四個社區空間設計的模型。從工作坊之後分別針對居民及參與課程學生的焦點團體訪問,以及授課教師們的觀察,我們看見本課程的設計及二天的工作坊帶給居民很不一樣的經驗,社區第一次有機會如此深度表達他們對社區空間的想法,也因此增加了對學校的信任。學生因為工作坊而對社區各空間的意義有新的理解,也更認識了居民對社區的感情。學生和社區成員都對未來課程的設計提出了建議,其中包括在課程開始時讓社區成員參與進來,而不是等待最後的工作坊,以及在課程開始前為學生提供一些空間設計和電腦輔助設計技能的基礎課程。由於台灣社區居民幾乎不講英語,因此國際學生與社區居民的溝通成為一大挑戰,圖像、肢體語言及網際網路資源成為語言之外的重要溝通媒介。 |
| 英文摘要 | By the end of last century, political democratization in Taiwan gave citizens the opportunity to take part in local and national level elections. While people here have had more opportunity to choose representatives, there haven't been as many opportunities to take part in community public affair discussions. This paper introduces measures taken to improve the situation through the participation of international students as part of a course entitled Community Planning offered by the Chang Jung University International Program for Sustainable Development in Tainan, Taiwan. After a few weeks of lectures and preparation, students offered ideas on how to better utilize and beautify community spaces nearby campus. Community residents were then invited to take part in a two-day workshop to discuss which models best suited their needs. As a result of the workshop, sites originally chosen by the students were changed to better fit the needs of the community. Moreover, the way the sites were to be developed were altered as well after local residents learned more about what community development plans entailed. In the end, four community space design models were completed. Based on focus group interviews with residents, feedback from students in class after the workshop and observations from professors, it was easy to see that the course design and workshop provided local residents with an entirely new community development experience. The opportunity for community members to express their thoughts about how to best utilize community spaces also helped build more trust with the university. Students also gained a new understanding of what various community spaces meant to local residents through the workshop. Both students and community members made suggestions for the design of future courses. These included involving community members at the beginning of the course instead of waiting for the final workshop as well as providing students with some basic courses in spatial design and computer-aided design skills prior to the course. One of the biggest challenges faced during the project involved language barriers. As most rural residents of Taiwan don't speak much English, communication between the international students and locals also consisted of using images and Internet resources to get points across. |
