英文摘要 | Brazilian educator Paulo Freire, perhaps best known for his influential text Pedagogy of the Oppressed, was born on September 19, 1921 in Recife. Freire recalled that the poor severely affected his ability to learn and ultimately dedicated his life to improving the lives of the poor. Freire died of heart failure on May 2, 1997 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, leaving behind him a legacy of wisdom-filled texts that continue to profoundly affect educational theory and practice today. This essay aims to explore Paulo Freire’s life images (1921-1997). To achieve the above purpose, the researcher divides Freire’s life images into six parts, including (1) early years’ life, (2) teaching experiences in the early period after graduation from university, (3) literacy work experiences in Brazil, (4) literacy work in the period of exile, (5) return to Brazil to reform, and (6) later years of his life. Finally, based on the above exploration of Paulo Freire’s life images, people are able to better understand his life. |
