英文摘要 | A model is developed which examines elastic collisions of particles as a mechanism of momentum exchange in two-dimensional shear flows of granular materials. The mixture is considered to form a surface layer where the solids are disk shaped and are surrounded by a homogeneous fluid. Both shear and normal stresses are predicted and are proportional to the square of the macroscopic velocity gradient. Applications of these equations would be appropriate to the shear field created by a layer of ice fragments transported on the surface of a river. |
