| 英文摘要 | Augmentation mammoplasty is gaining wider and wider acceptance among Asian women, and has become more popular in Taiwan over the last two decades. The incidence of breast cancer is the same as that for non-augmented patients. Whether the prosthesis should be preserved or removed during mastectomy is still controversial. The aim of this study is to evaluate the strategy of preoperative assessment and the surgical plan for a breast cancer patient who has previously undergone augmentation mammoplasty. From November of 1997 to April of 2001, we experienced two breast cancer patients, who had undergone previous augmentation mammoplasty. Their ages were both 43; one had a history of mammoplasty for 10 years and the other for 9 months. Malignancy was diagnosed prior to the definitive surgical procedures; one patient had modified radical mastectomy and the other had partial mastectomy. The prostheses of both patients were preserved. There was no obvious post-operative complication and the recovery was as smooth as in non-augmented patients. The prosthesis remained in the same position and size. Both patients were satisfied with their functional results and aesthetic appearance. We present our successful experience in these two cases. |
