英文摘要 | Background and Purpose: In sports field, athletes and audience often use sound or noise to intimidate opponents and interfere with opponents' performance. However, whether environmental noise on the sidelines will affect sports performance of athletes, particularly balance, remains unknown. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore the influence of auditory disturbance on balance in young active people. Methods: Twenty healthy young participants without hearing deficit were included in this study. Each participant performed single-legged standing in 2 different conditions (eyes close and eyes open) randomly with 65dB white noise or 85dB white noise. The body sway area, path length, anterior-posterior sway deviation, and medial-lateral sway deviation of center of pressure (COP) were used as balance parameters during single- legged stance. Results: No statistically significant difference was found between 65dB and 85dB noise conditions. We only found significantly decline the balance in eyes close condition compared to eyes open condition. Conclusions: The study did not find significant influence of the loudness of white noise on single-legged standing balance in the healthy young population. Influences of other characteristics of auditory stimuli, such as frequency and rhythm, on various balance performances need further studies. |
