中文摘要 | 主題地圖雖是廣被採用的空間現象展示工具,但由於製作需要相當程度之專業,往往讓使用者望之卻步。許多健康城市研究之資料與分析皆與空間有關,若僅因無法製圖而受到限制,是相當可惜的事。透過發展一個具備製圖知識的網際網路主題地圖製作與展示機制,我們成功克服三個主要瓶頸:(1)使用者可利用網際網路之便利性,於遠端完成主題地圖之製作;(2)使用者僅須提供與地理識別碼連結的主題資料,且該資料不需為地理資料格式;(3)製作機制具備足夠的製圖知識,可代替使用者完成絕大部分的製圖工作。由功能之觀點,完成之系統使不具空間專長的使用者也可自行完成主題地圖之製作,可因此大量降低主題地圖之製作門檻,提供更為豐富及彈性的資料成果展示。系統之架構以符合國際開放式地理資訊系統標準之網際網路服務為基礎,可避免商用軟體之限制,不但可依需要擴充整體架構,並可達成提升整體資料互操作性之目標。 |
英文摘要 | Thematic maps are widely accepted tools for displaying spatial phenomena. The requirement of professional cartographic knowledge to make a correct thematic map, nonetheless, tremendously limits inexperienced users' interests. For researchers dedicating themselves to the various issues of Healthy City, many collected data and research agenda are spatial-related. It is rather pity not being able to take advantages of the power of thematic maps simply because of the lack of cartographic knowledge. By introducing an internet-based thematic map making mechanism, we successfully overcome three major obstacles: (1) allow users to take advantage of the convenience of internet accessibility to make thematic maps; (2) allow users to submit thematic data with geographic identifier links, and the data does not necessarily require to be in geographic data format, and (3) the mechanism has sufficient built-in cartographic knowledge to make mapping decisions for the users. From a functionality perspective, the proposed mechanism allows users without cartographic background to make thematic maps, and therefore boosts the application of thematic maps and provides abundant and flexible map data display and analysis capability. Furthermore, the whole mechanism was developed based on Web Service Standards of international Open Geographic Information System (OpenGIS) technology. This not only reduces the limitation enforced by commercial software, but also allows mechanism expansion according to users' requirement and improves the overall data interoperability. |
