英文摘要 | Abstract: This study intends to understand the decision-making styles of women when facing the operation of total hysterectomy because of myoma or adenomyoma. Fourteen patients were selected as the subjects of this study by purpose sampling. Participative observation and depth interviews were adopted to gather data. There are 7 decision-making behaviors induced from study results—reconfirmation of authority’s opinion, tolerance of physical discomfort, fear of malignancy, confidence enhancement on the operation, hesitation about losing sexuality, integration of the conflicting information and waiting for a turning point. In addition, considering the different behavior combination of each subject, the decision-making styles were devided into 3 patterns—action taking (50%), hesitation (14%) and persistence (36%). The study results may provide nurses and doctors with a better understanding about patient’s decision-making process, help them to offer patients with adequate nursing intervention and ensure patients having sufficient information to make the best and unregretful choice. |
