英文摘要 | Background: Little information is available on the hemodynamics of the inferior mesenteric artery. Transabdominal power/duplex sonography was used to evaluate the visualization and the feasibility of noninvasive blood flow measurement in the inferior mesenteric artery. Materials and Methods: Twenty patients with a variety of extra-abdominal malignancies undergoing routine abdominal ultrasound examination were enrolled in the study. The diameter, cross-sectional area, time-averaged mean velocity, flow volume, peak-systolic and end-diastolic velocities and resistance index of the inferior mesenteric artery were obtained sequentially with a 5-10-MHz linear probe in 15 (75%) of the 20 subjects. Results: The diameter of the inferior mesenteric artery was found to be 0.25 ± 0.06 cm (range, 0.18-0.37 cm), the cross-sectional area 0.05 ± 0.03 cm �� (range, 0.03-0.11 cm �� ), the time-averaged mean velocity 14.4 ± 11.6 cm/second (6.0-48.6 cm/second), the blood flow volume 41.9 ± 32.4 mL/minute (range, 11.7-101.3 mL/minute), the peak-systolic velocity 103.0 ± 34.7 cm/second (range, 46.8-147.0 cm/second), the end-diastolic velocity 10.7 ± 7.7 cm/second (range, 2.3-31.0 cm/ second) and the resistance index 0.91 ± 0.05 (0.85-0.98) from these arteries measured. Conclusion: The inferior mesenteric artery is visible sonographically and blood flow can be measured in the majority of patients except those who are markedly obese, have a distended abdomen or have an increased anteroposterior abdominal diameter. |
