英文摘要 | The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between nonverbal decoding accuracy and intention-cue detection ability, particularly with regard to the interpretation of hostile intention. Dodge (1986; 1994) proposed that in social situation children first attend to and encode social cues and utilize then to interpret other's intention. Sixty-seven children (25 girls and 42 boys) were administered a measure of nonverbal decoding accuracy that assesses nonverbal abilities thorough facial expressions, postures, gestures, and tone of voice. Results showed that children's ability to read nonverbal emotional cues was positively related to their ability to discriminate hostile versus non-hostile intention and was negatively related to their tendency to misidentify intention as hostile during social provocation situations. With the regard to the relation between the ability to read nonverbal emotional cues and misidentify intention as hostile, boys' tendency is broader and higher than girls'. |
