英文摘要 | The roll motion behavior of a Container- or RoRo-ship in waves is strongly dependent upon its load distribution. Therefore, load condition is an important parameter in the assessment of cargo safety onboard. Here, different roll modes such as direct roll resonance, parametrically excited roll motion, roll motion due to stability loss in following wave, large heel due to directional instability in combination with transverse stability loss etc are described and their relationships to the load condition are discussed. As a conclusion, the concept of safe loading range is proposed, which can be easily applied by operators of container- or RoRo-ships for improving cargo safety at sea. It is believed that an appropriate arrangement of cargo distribution and ballast tank in the preliminary design stage can reduce the risk for cargo shifting and cargo damage. |
