| 英文摘要 | This paper is dedicated to Professor Yih-Hsing Pao who served as post-doctoral mentor to VVV for three years at Cornell University. Arriving at Cornell with a Ph.D in Physics (Electromagnetic Waves and Statistical Mechanics), Professor Pao first introduced VVV to the mathematical unity underlying all continuum fields, patiently taught her about P- and S-waves and the elastodynamic field. He also introduced VVV to coupled field problems arising in piezoelectric and piezomagnetic media. Professor Pao was visionary in recognizing the unity and inter-relatedness of all wave phenomena and has inspired several hundred researchers. Professor Pao always viewed numerical methods with some suspicion and this paper in particular tries to exploit the best aspects of a hybrid approach. It gives us much pleasure to dedicate this paper to Professor Pao on the occasion of his 70th birthday. |
