英文摘要 | In addition to the Chinese Democratic Party, there are eight "democratic parties" legally participating in the government. In February 1999 Jiang Zemin reiterated Mainland China's political system as "leadership under one party, cooperation among various parties." His statement was in response to the proposed organizing of Chinese Democratic Party in June 1998. Although no laws ban the public from organizing political parties, the judicial departments sentenced those "dissident party founders." It is evident that the government is firm in wiping out any opposition parties in Mainland China. The eight democratic parties can not enjoy the same status as the ruling Communist Party as they do not have their own platforms and political objectives. Moreover, they must comply with the Communist Party's leadership, therefore, they are called "tail parties." This epithet may seem sarcastic but well reflects the reality. |
